It was a little scary when Elijah was first born. He got stuck in the middle of a contraction coming out into the world (not to mention his feet came out with his ears), and didn't cry for the longest time. Then finally he let out a little squeak, but continued to not make any other noise. Dr Sharp was fantastic. She kept suctioning him and rubbing him, but I knew as they prepared for him to be laid on my chest that something was wrong when Dr Sharp said no, prepare the warmer instead. She then quickly cut the cord, ran over to the warmer and ambued (bagged)and suctioned him a couple times and finally I was able to hear the beautiful cry. Dr Sharp apologized to Michael and I that he didn't get to cut the cord and I didn't get to hold him right away, but That is silly- I am glad she was able to intervene and we are able to have a healthy little baby without any major complications.
