He's Here!!!

Elijah Joseph Watts has arrived. He came January 21,2010 after a long day at 2:50. I was beginning to think this day would never come, but Mom reassured me there has never been someone who has been pregnant the rest of their lives. With Jacob I don't ever remember getting to this uncomfortable big stage, but I am sure part of that is because I was much sicker. Elijah I was sick with the entire time, but not like I was with Jacob thankfully. Instead, I got to be uncomfortable, couldn't sleep, etc, but it is all worth it as I am holding this precious little one. You forget how tiny they are, yet they seem so big to have been inside you.

Jacob adores his little brother. Dad was able to bring him up to me right after I delivered, I was still in the hospital bed and was still being monitored (just because they hadn't taken that off yet). Jacob was a little scared to come see me because of the monitors and would wave and say I want you mommy, but wouldn't come near me, but When Michael who was holding Elijah asked if Jacob wanted to come see him, Jacob ran across the room and asked if he could hold him. He is such a great big brother. He just like his parents immediately fell in love. Thankfully, Jacob warmed up and came to see me, but still wouldn't sit on the side of my Saline Lock (IV) until they pulled it out.

It was a little scary when Elijah was first born. He got stuck in the middle of a contraction coming out into the world (not to mention his feet came out with his ears), and didn't cry for the longest time. Then finally he let out a little squeak, but continued to not make any other noise. Dr Sharp was fantastic. She kept suctioning him and rubbing him, but I knew as they prepared for him to be laid on my chest that something was wrong when Dr Sharp said no, prepare the warmer instead. She then quickly cut the cord, ran over to the warmer and ambued (bagged)and suctioned him a couple times and finally I was able to hear the beautiful cry. Dr Sharp apologized to Michael and I that he didn't get to cut the cord and I didn't get to hold him right away, but That is silly- I am glad she was able to intervene and we are able to have a healthy little baby without any major complications.
